Prescott Staunch on Not Quitting

Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott is firm in his decision that he would not be quitting his post as second in command to British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

"I am Deputy Prime Minister and I'm expecting to get a Christmas card from Tony Blair as such," he said. Prescott has rejected the theories that he could be soon quitting the cabinet in light of the recent casino controversy as "a load of crap".

Prescott has been involved in a string of controversies the latest of which is his alleged involvement with US casino mogul Philip Anschutz regarding the bid for the Millenuim Dome to be turned into Britain's first super casino.

Prescott was furthermore pushed deeper into the controversy after it was uncovered that he has met up with the casino tycoon in six previous occasions.

Previous scandals that Prescott has been involved in include the extra marital affair that he indulged in and owned up to with his diary secretary who is 24 years his junior.

Prescott was also forced to give up a county estate in Dorneywood after he was caught playing croquet during working hours.

House of Commons watchdog Sir Philip Mawer has been tasked to begin preliminary investigations to determine if Prescott has indeed broken Parliamentary rules by not declaring the meetings with Anschutz in the MP's Register of Interests.
